When you discover the world's most powerful handheld laser, the first question you'll have is: how can you use this power in the most awe-inspiring way imaginable? We present the LaserSaber. Stunning to behold, magnificent to wield, and absolutely wicked to own.

This product is only an accessory for a Spyder 3 laser. Laser sold separately. When we first created the sleek, sophisticated design of the S3 laser, George Lucas attempted to sue us over it. We're betting he's having some trouble with the LaserSaber's design, too. The LaserSaber "powers up" and "powers down" within a magnetic gravity system, so you can watch the most powerful lasers in the world climb the length of the blade as you turn it off and on.

The laser is diffused by a built-in optical element and distributed evenly throughout the blade.

A metal sphere suspended inside the tube causes the beam grow effect, while a magnet hidden in the tip of the blade causes the ball to magnetically lock into place, forming a beam with a solid end point. The LaserSaber isn't a toy - it's powered by highly dangerous lasers and needs to only be wielded in a controlled environment.

Although it is rarely prefered to the green and red ones, it could be used for what others do, which also reflects the individual unique aesthetic taste.

It is probably not as much preferred lasers as an astronomy lasersbecause brighter colors would make an object more visible in the sky. However it comes down to all other uses such as pinpointing something on the large screen or on the blackboard.

Green laser pointer is now the world's most popular laser pointers, because the green lasers than red lasers 6 times more than red laser beam significantly, while the price is much cheaper than the blue and yellow.

Green pen is the wavelength of light emitted nm, the wavelength sensitivity of the coefficient table, as is the closest one wavelength. Green Lasers is undoubtedly efficient light source, the eye more easily identified. The green light sensitivity of the human eye is higher than a lot of red; the other is green light scattering in the atmosphere more than red light.

Red laser pointerwavelength nm green laser pointer is more for longer. The first red lasers was released in the early s. Nowadays, the More durable transmitted red light air, dust, water vapor, so the light path can be seen to need more power.

Do remember that red lasers are powerful since the light they emit is powerful when it hits a certain object and converges into a point.

Burning laser pointer are becoming more and more popular, from the original blue burning lasers, to the green burning lasers and red burning lasers. There are more on our website at present. The shape has expanded from one to a variety of shapes, and the flashlight shape is the most. From the first second you all saw Obi Wan Kenobi turn on that lightsaber it became a fantasy to own one. You all wanted to own your own replica lightsaber as much as anything else you could have imagined up to that point. Playing with normal swords would never be enough for any true Star Wars fan from that point on.

Over the years we may all have aged but we've not really grown up - we still want to own a real lightsaber no matter what. There was something very special about the lightsaber.

Something none of us could explain. Every Star Wars fan simply knew that they had to own one. It became the ultimate weapon in many of our eyes. We all wanted one because it could cut through steel, deflect laser blasts, be used in hand-to-hand combat, be thrown as a long range weapon and well Over the years the Star Wars toy market has been flooded with cheap plastic lightsabers that were nothing like the real thing.

They kept you occupied while you waitd for a true lightsaber replica to arrive; one that really made you feel like a Jedi in training!

We all spent years fighting with cheap plastic imitations. These had Star Wars written on the box but the lightsaber inside never, ever lived up to your expectations did it? In some cases a flourescent tube and some duct tape would have been more convincing! The good news is that the years of waiting are over. There are now real lightsabers for sale online. Ok ok these don't actually cut through steel doors or allow you to deflect laser blasts with a flick of your wrist.

They are the single best lightsaber replica I've ever seen though - and I've owned lots of toy lightsabers over the years. So how are these lightsabers better? Firstly they're manufactured under licence to Lucasfilms which means that they look exactly like the real thing.

Csc 347

Secondly they're extremely well made - the quality is amazing. Last but not least is the technology used in each lightsaber.

These lightsabers ignite from the bottom upwards just like in the movies and also contain motion sensors which, when activated, use genuine Star Wars light saber sound effects when you move the lightsaber or hit something with it.

Real Lightsabers

New workplaces, new food sources, new medicine--even an entirely new economic system. According to George Lucas, he came up with the idea of a lightsaber for Star Wars because the film was meant to be a space-age Arthurian epic.

It needed its own legendary weapon that the Jedi could use to set them apart, but it also needed to seem futuristic. Most importantly, since Jedis were supposed to be peacekeepers, Lucas wanted the weapon to be purely defensive. Bringing the lightsaber to life in the Star Wars films was an organic process.

This is why all of the lightsaber duels in Star Wars are two-handed affairs. Over time, though, Lucas realized that he needed a way to show that Luke Skywalker was getting to be more proficient as a sword fighter, so the lightsabers became conceptually lighter, capable of being wielded with one hand. The actual handle of the original lightsaber was a movie flash canister with the bulb removed.

For the blades, Lucas first used rotating poles covered in reflective material, but it only looked good in certain lighting. Eventually, Lucas and his team decided to rotoscope animation over the blades, giving the lightsaber its distinctive appearance. Perhaps the most important design element of a lightsaber, though, had nothing to do with the way it looked. It was the way it sounded. The lightsaber was the first sound Burtt designed for Star Wars. According to Burtt, when watching the dailies of the lightsaber duels, he found himself drawn to the sound the film projector made.

Deciding that this was probably what a lightsaber sounded like, Burtt supplemented it with a buzzing sound captured with an unshielded mic from an old television tube.

From there, he mixed the sounds together, then used an electronic wand to sync the sounds he had created with a lightsaber duel as it happens. Watch it here. Citrix MailChimp. Events Innovation Festival The Grill.

Every time a new movie is released, watchers sit at the edge of their seats wondering what new lightsabers will come up in the film. Will there be any new colors?

Any intriguing designs? Do we have enough knowledge of science and technology to back up this beloved weapon? In the Star Wars universe, a lightsaber is made when a kyber crystal is put into a hilt made out of metal or wood. This crystal then powers up the blade depending on the color of the crystal. That may come after we have exhaustively explored all the mysteries of our own Milky Way Galaxy.

So if a real lightsaber were to be made that is accurate with those used in the Galatic Empire, how would it be done? There is no denying that the dazzling glow and color of a lightsaber is not unlike a laser beam.

The blade of the saber erupts from a hand-held hilt, which is also similar to what lasers do. They travel on and on until they reflect upon a solid surface. Imagine Luke Skywalker battling his father on Cloud City with a lightsaber that suddenly goes from 5 feet to 20 feet in an instant!

Imagine a lightsaber duel with mute blades going straight through each other! So although lightsabers do look like lasers, it seems impossible to create one with laser technology. Maybe we need to learn more about lasers and how to contain them before thinking of creating a laser lightsaber.

There are examples of plasma everywhere we look. For instance, neon lights get their glow and color because of plasma. Plasma is the fourth state of matter, and it is created when gas is stripped of its electrons. Depending on the kind of gas, the resulting light produces a special color.

For example, a plasma blade that is powerful enough to cut through steel and cauterize Jedi and Sith limbs needs a huge power source. A blade that powerful would need around 20 megawatts — enough power to run 14, homes! Also, plasma blades are not solid. Imagine a lightsaber duel with blades going right through each other!

The biggest hope for an accurate lightsaber in the future is if we could learn to further manipulate lasers or plasma. Or discover something entirely new altogether. Or maybe a space mission to a planet with kyber crystals?

Nothing is impossible. Imagine what people would have said to the concept of electricity used to power lights and machines 2, years ago! Ina device called the Metal Vapor Torch was created for the U. Surprisingly, this torch is very much like a lightsaber. It features a glowing flame that can cut through inch-thick steel in an instant. The Metal Vapor Torch is a powerful device. It features heat up to 2, degrees Celcius and can travel 1, miles per second.

The Metal Vapor Torch runs on cartridges that cost around 35 dollars.December 11, As even casual Star Wars fans will know, lightsabers are probably the coolest weapon ever to make an appearance on the big screen.

La pagina aperta del 153

Lightsaber fights are so elegant that they are almost hypnotic and, even though not all of us might have a strong enough flow of Force running through our veins, a lightsaber in the right hand is by far the deadliest weapon to be found in the universe.

The idea behind a lightsaber is simple genius: a light-weight and immensely powerful tool that uses a blade of energy to not only slice up disciples of the Dark Side in a single blow but also act as an effective shield against laser blasts. So why don't we have working lightsabers in real life?

3d printed coins

Surely physicists must be smart enough and big enough Star Wars fans to be able to produce one of these incredible objects.

The obvious way of building a lightsaber would be to use a laser, which can be seen as a particularly bright and directional burst of light. But even though laser technology is continuously striding towards more efficient and practical machines, we are still miles away from a working lightsaber.

Let's see why. The first challenge is making the blade of your lightsaber an acceptable size, let's say around three feet or so. To do this, you would have to make the laser beam come to a stop at a certain point. This won't be easy since light has a rather strong natural tendency to keep travelling if it doesn't encounter any obstacles. One solution could be to place a small mirror at the tip of the blade.

But can you imagine how embarrassing it would be to show up in the battlefield with a lightsaber surrounded by a whole supporting structure for a tiny mirror at its end? Apart from being really fragile, such a blade wouldn't be able to hurt anyone. The second problem is that the blade will need a lot of power to be able to slice through materials. Welding lasers used in industry can do that but they typically require several kilowatts of power. The power supply for these lasers is huge and would certainly not fit in the tiny hilt of a lightsaber.

Plus you would need a considerable cooling mechanism if you didn't want the hilt to become incandescent and to melt your hand. Besides these more practical points, the amazing effects of lightsaber fights would be unfeasible. Two laser-based lightsabers would never clash against each other. They would simply pass through one another with no effect.

What's more, a laser focuses light in one direction so sharply that you can't see it unless you look directly down its axis. What the hell? Wicked Lasers has actually made a lightsaber. I mean, not one that can cut you in half, but one that looks and acts like the actual Jedi weapon! At least, that's what they claim:. LaserSabers are energized by the light of Wicked Lasers, harnessing the power of the force.

The LaserSaber features an ultra smooth magnetic gravity system that can "power up" and "power down" the blade. The LaserSaber maintains its radiant brilliance even when the lights are on.

The LaserSaber is interchangeable and will attach to any Spyder 3 model. The aircraft grade aluminum hilt ensures secure attachment of the blade. Due to the extreme powers of the Spyder 3, only operate while wearing LaserShades in a controlled environment.

The Lasersaber—that's how they call it to avoid any Lucasfilm lawsuits—is actually a inch polycarbonate blade with an anodized aluminum base that attaches to a Spyder 3 laser. It has some kind of mechanism that makes the sword power on and off like the ones in the movie.

The effect is quite stunning. No other lightsaber toy I've seen lights up like this thing or can shine like the real thing on broad daylight. There's no comparison. But this technological terror comes at a cost. Oh, and yes, we are getting one for testing and just playing like the Star Wars dorks we are.

Here's a great technical analysis by EnigmaticChemist, one of our readers:. You can get the Spyder 3 lasers in three variants, mW and mW or the 1W. The average standard laser pointer that you can purchase at any computer store for a presentation is likely to be around or under 5mW. Most toys, if they use a laser, will be in this power. I would believe some even use more primitive light sources. The minimum S3 Spyder power output is still bright at roughly 68, meters.

These lasers are also extremely visible in broad daylight on their target due to their intensity from the source. Meaning that in that barrel with the magnetic coating—it most likely acts as a reflection chamber—it is a continuous target. This attachment requires safety glasses, meaning its letting that wavelength of the laser escape out the "Blade" making it seem lit as it is. So these Lasersabers should be brilliantly lit up even in a well lit room with CFL pumping out many wavelengths of light.

And also you are still holding a high powered laser with a chamber attachment whilst swinging it around near people also hopefully wearing wavelength blocking eyewear.
